Vance Co. Early College HS (VECHS) is one of Vance County Schools' (VCS) five innovative schools. The school is a five-year program where students are dually enrolled in high school and college classes. Upon acceptance, students can graduate with their high school diploma, an associate of arts or science degree, or a year of transferrable college credits.
APPLICATION & RECRUITMENT FOR NEW STUDENTS:
- Admission is not automatic.
- VECHS accepts new student applications for 8th-grade students only
- Vance Co. Schools Innovative Schools application & recruitment is Feb. 1st - 28th
- Click on Vance Co. Schools Innovative Schools to access applications. (applications open Feb. 1st of each school year)
- Students begin in August of their freshman year.
TRANSFER ELIGIBILITY AND REQUIREMENTS:
*Admission is not automatic.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Grade 9 thru 11 students currently enrolled in a North Carolina Early College H.S.
- Good academic and behavioral standing at current Early College H.S. and college (2.3 Minimum Grade Point Average (GPA); no disciplinary referrals during the most current school year)
- Complete Vance County Early College H.S. Transfer Request (Electronic only)
- Transfer students begin in August.
- Notification of acceptance will be mailed by July 21st for the August start date.
The below-listed documents are additional required materials for transfer requests. Documents must be mailed via U.S. Postal Service and postmarked June 1st – 30th. (VECHS will not accept hand-delivered or emailed final transcripts, report cards, or incident reports.)
- Final report card for the current school year
- Copy of the student's transcript with grades from the final report card for the student’s current academic school year
- Copy of student's PowerSchool Incident Report
